18/08/05 WORLD BIGGEST URANIUM DEPOSIT IN NIUE
This week, the international media is running hot on the news about plans by an Australian company to do further exploration work for uranium on Niue. The Autralian company, Avian Mining Ltd has been doing exploration work on Niue for over 30 years. This time the same company is involve with another, Yarmarna Goldfields to do some more serious work on Niue. Premier of Niue Hon Young Vivian was reported by the Niue Global Community online group, said "Yes we have uranium, from good source, people who knows about these things, they have assured me that there is uranium down there. In terms of the deposit itself and how far down below, they will be working on it. In a couple of week’s time they will be here to fly over Niue, and to size up the places whether they are going put six holes to determine the deposit down there, it is only the determination for information about the size of the uranium. Now my, my feeling is about the next step, the next phase, yes we will dig it out. I think in there, we learn lessons from other people and other countries, and I think we can avoid those mistakes. But for the present, my view is why not, if there is money down, well, well have to dig it out. So that is important for us to think about. I will certainly consult a lot of people about this, and expert information will come to Niue to tell us." CLICK HERE to listen to the full interview of the Premier of Niue Hon Young Viviannbn
