"The
DT500 Power Monitor"
The DT500
Power Monitor is the first bench top tester to provide the ability to
monitor the cost of electricity for individual 120/240 Volt
appliances in dollars. This unit continuously monitors the
electricity used by the device thousands of times per second,
calculates the results and then updates the display with the results
every second. It combines the functions of a volt meter, two
ammeters, a wattmeter, a duty cycle counter and a calculator and then
presents the results on five different screens. A monthly estimate of
the electric bill is updated each second. A DIP Switch is provided on
the front of the DT500 to customize the local cost per KWH of electricity.
This tester
is unique for many reasons. For example, it can be used to determine
the electricity cost in dollars for operating any single device and
it can be used to reduce the cost of electricity by testing
appliances for efficiency at different appliance settings. It can be
used in selecting the most efficient appliances when making new
purchases. For example, refrigerators can vary from five dollars per
month up to thirty-five dollars per month and higher for older units.
The DT500 can also be used to find intermittent faults with an
appliance or with the power source and is especially useful for
isolating the source of high electric bills.
